Tolerance for intolerance is cowardice.

So what started the whole 'thing' in Iraq? Why (initially at least) the widespread support for the war? Intolerance.
9/11 was an attack on American ideals, and an attack on our pride. It was an attack which dictated numerous actions of import and shifts in American foreign policy.
The war in Afghanistan was somewhat justified- it was an offensive move in order to counter further offensive action from a declared enemy of our country(al Quada). Yet why the war in Iraq? It was an intolerance of the Iraqi's beliefs, of their country's policies which prompted this event- an event dreamed up as part of an ever growing desire to perpetuate retribution. Their lack of support in hindering extremists was viewed by some (in power) as the forming of an 'alliance' of sorts with our 'enemy' (I use the word 'our' here in a very broad sense, 'our opinions' encompassing the United State's alleged thoughts as dictated by America's major news broadcasters, not including the actual unreported opinions of the American populace). A point I don't see raised nearly enough is that perhaps Iraq (pre-war Iraq)is actually the one fighting for freedom of speech here. Through the allowance of what in America might be considered as dissenting attitudes (dissent from the west), Iraq was aiding in the protraction of freedom of speech. A freedom of speech against America which seems to no longer be tolerated. This intolerance has been tolerated much to long. As the title of my post states: Tolerance for intolerance is cowardice.
